Mery Rose é uma atleta do paraquedista clássico (style & precisao).  Ela é membro do USA Skydiving Team.  Com vários títulos nacionais e internacionais, ela vem escrevendo a história de uma atleta que há mais de 37 anos conduz a vida dedicada exclusivamente ao esporte paraquedismo - o grande amor da vida dela!   O desejo de saltar de paraquedas surgiu na infância.  Mery Rose acreditava, quando menina, que se atirar de um avião, seria um ato inegável de bravura.  Em 1974, os 19 anos de idade, marcou a sua estréia no esporte, após ter participado do curso de paraquedismo na Academia de Policia Militar, em Teresina, PI (mesmo sendo civíl).  Ao se inscrever, o comandante, impressionado com sua coragem, comentou:  ''Como alguém pode insistir em saltar de um avião?!'' Logo nos primeiros saltos decidiu que seria atleta de competição do paraquedismo classico.  As dificuldades que o futuro lhe reservava, não a impediram de continuar acreditando no seu sonho. Valeu a pena. Hoje, com 5.700 saltos e 148 títulos, o seu nome é referência mundial no esporte. 1975 passou no concurso público para a Eletronorte (Centrais Eletrica do Norte), e foi morar em Brasília, DF.  Na época, como não tinha paraquedismo na Capital Ferderal, junto-se com alguns ''Pé Pretos'' (principiantes no esporte), e fundaram o Clube de Paraquedismo de Brasília, com sede no Aeroclube, em Lusiania, GO. No início dos anos 80, deixou a família, o emprego na Eletronorte, os velhos amigos do esporte e mudou-se para Boituva-SP (cidade que abriga o CNPq-Centro Nacional de Paraquedismo).  Nesse período, ganhava a vida fazendo shows de saltos no interior paulista e em outros estados. Na época, foram muitos os tropeços numa vida difícil que levava no Brasil.  Há quem diga que ela chegou a escrever o seu próprio manual de sobrevivência.  A busca de patrocínios - para treinamentos, viagens e competições -, sempre foi outra batalha incansável. Mery Rosa vive o paraquedismo intensamente.  Ganhou a fama pelo ato geurreira de ser.  Para ela, o esporte preenche a vida.  Sua fala mansa, atrás de um sotaque não muito definido, não esconde a obstinação de quem sabe o que quer.  É religiosa em valores próprios e se acha vaidosa pelo fato de praticar esporte radical e ser atleta de competições internacionais.  Lutar com obstinação sempre foi uma grande marca na vida dela.  O sonho de ser campeã do mundo parecia possível.  Determinada, um dia ela bateu asas e foi a luta. "Se quissese ser campeã do mundo, teria que treinar e conviver com os campeões do mundo".  Disse ela.  Justificando sua atitude radical, que no ano de 1990, de mala e cuia mudou-se para os EUA, com a idéia fixa de treinar com o USA Team - os campeõs do mundial.  Hoje, ela é membro do renomado time Norte Americano e exibe no currículo inúmeras medalhas mundiais FAI. No ano de 2001, ela participou do campeonato Americano e foi medalha de bronze.  Em 2004 foi USPA Top 4 Overall e entrou para a selecao americana.  2005, representou os EUA na Copa do Mundo, na cidade de Stupino, Rússia, e foi bronze por equipe.  Em 2006, subiu ao pódio do POPS World Games, Eloy, Arizona, e recebeu a prata da precisão individual.  Registrando mais uma grande marca na sua esplêndido carreira de atleta bem sucedida. Em 2008, ela realizou o maior sonho da vida dela.   Juntamente com as suas companheiras de time; Elisa Tennyson, Karen Morrison, Angela Nichols e Cheryl Stearns,  participaram do 30th. FAI WPC-World Parachute Championship, na cidade de Lucenek, Slovakia, trasando para casa o titulo de campea do mundo.  O seu Time ganhou a prata Overall  e o bronze na precisão.  O ouro Overall ficou com as Rússas e o bronze com as Chinesas.

Mery Rose was an 11-time Brazilian style & accuracy champion with big dreams of coming to America to train with world-renowned S&A champion Cheryl Stearns. However, upon learning of Rose’s pending move to the U.S., the Brazilian government seized all of her “citizen’s assets”, including all of he life savings.Determined to still pursue her dreams, she moved to the U.S. despite it all.In 2005, she realized her goal of become a U.S. Team member at the World Cup, helping the team earn a bronze medal at the event. Someday I am going to own… FAI(Fédération Aéronautique International) medals, a Parachutist cover and a skydiving husband. Of all your skydiving, is there one jump you would like to do again? Twenty-five years ago, I made a demo in São Luís, Brazil. I jumped into the Castelão soccer stadium on opening day wearing my favorite team’s uniform, carrying the game ball and with 100,000 spectators watching What do you consider your most significant life achievement? Becoming a member of the U.S.Parachute Team What has been your strangest thought while skydiving? One time, when I most lost my right accuracy shoe in freefall, it occurred to me that I should practice with my left foot more often, just in case What has been your favorite period in your skydiving career? Last February marked my 34thyear as a skydiver-competitor, and I also celebrated jump number 5,000. I still have a lot to lean, but day by day, my accuracy jumps get better, which makes me really happy What has been your greatest competition moment? At the 2005 World Cup in Stupino, Russia, I had my personal best: a score of 10 centimeters total for 10 jumps. Among accuracy competitors, a one centimeter-per-jump average is considered a world-class performance… and it helped the U.S. Team get third place What quirks do you possess? I only jump wearing a pink top, pink jumpsuit, pink shoes and pink canopy What makes you tick? Scoring a beautiful dead center on a two-centimeter electronic disc in any competition. (In the last U.S.Nationals, I made five) How did you get to your current level of style & accuracy talent? Lots of hard work and good coaching.
