About Mery Rose
Mery Rose is a renowned athlete of the US Parachute Women's Team, well-known for her exceptional accuracy landing skills. She jumps from a plane at 3,500 feet, performs hop-n-pops, and guides her parachute to reach an electronic disc target referred to as a 'dead center,' which has a diameter of 2 centimeters (just under an inch) is placed atop a soft, air mattress measuring 5 meters in diameter. - Video below.
Mery Rose began her skydiving journey at 19, breaking barriers as a civilian at the Military Police Academy of Piauí in Teresina, Brazil, when there were no female military personnel in her country. Her courage was so remarkable that the then-Commander, Colonel Canuto Tupy Caldas, now deceased, admired her and asked, "How could you insist on jumping out of a perfectly good airplane?" This quote has become famous worldwide. "I would never do it, even if someone paid me a million dollars,” he stated.
In the 1980s, Mery Rose soared to unprecedented success in Brazilian parachuting history. However, Brazil's skies had become too small for her flights. Driven by her love for the sport and her quest for a world title from the FAI — Fédération Aéronautique Internationale. World Air Sports Federation, her flights reached new horizons.
In 1990, with the title of eleven-time Brazilian champion in classic skydiving - style & accuracy, and the name registered on the Guinness Book of 1984, for the largest group jump at once, 197 skydivers, she courageously, left Brazil with unwavering determination to start a new chapter in the USA as a member of the US Parachute Team - USPT. She stated, "To win an FAI world title, I must train and compete with the best in the world."
Mery Rose’s dedication and perseverance are genuinely inspiring, showcasing the traits of someone who knows what she wants and how to achieve it. She exemplifies the power of commitment in realizing one’s dreams. With incredible energy, she embodies the strength of her zodiac sign, Taurus, radiating determination and both physical and mental resilience.
Mery Rose holds the record for 6,988 jumps and has achieved numerous national and international titles. Her dream of winning FAI world titles as a member of the USPT came true; her American team has won two accuracy bronze medals, one silver Overoll medal, and two crystal trophies. Additionally, she has 19 USA national medals. Mery Rose also owns one gold medal, two silver medals, and one bronze medal from the World POPS Championships, as well as two gold medals and two trophies from the annual Jagotina Serbia Cup. In California, "Best of the East," her team won two gold medals in 10-Speed and 20-Way events.
Mery Rose is the first female parachutist in Brazil to complete 1,000 jumps and she is the only Brazilian skydiver, between male and female, to have won FAI classic parachute medals. Her profile is published in the July 2008 issue of Parachutist Magazine.
When asked about her motivation for achieving numerous victories, she responded like a poem: "Love drives the greatest accomplishments in the world. — If you don't fight to win, be prepared to lose."
Her friends refer to her as a “citizen of the world” or a "globetrotter" due to her extensive travels to 38 different countries — jumping by parachute, of course!

FAI Parachuting Mondial 2012 - Skydive Dubai
Mery Rose, a passionate dreamer, envisions a future as adventurous as her skydiving jumps. She hopes to keep “jumping for the next 100 years,” reflecting her adventurous spirit, positive outlook, and deep love for the sport. Over the past five decades, she has dedicated herself entirely to skydiving, making a significant impact on both her skydiving community and the world of amateur sports. When asked about the experience of skydiving, she smiles widely and says, “It’s guaranteed fun. - Skydiving is my life!"
Since childhood, she has nurtured her artistic talents and is affectionately nicknamed "Fairy Hands" (FairyHands.com is coming soon). Her love for art cultivates a unique creativity that reflects her deep-rooted heritage from her mother, Mimosa, a retired elementary school fine arts teacher.
Explored various fields of art at San Francisco City College, including dynamic sportswear fashion design, fashion coordination, and cutting and sewing (she enjoys making her jumpsuits). She engages in graphic design, artwork, interior design, and oil painting on canvas. Designed and developed her websites BestTourEver.com and MeryRose.com.. Her poetry reflects Romanticism and captures the beauty of lyrical rhymes found in modern literature, exalting the rich cultural heritage of Maranhão, her homeland in Northeast Brazil.
Mery Rose was born with great artistic gifts, and we all recognize that. But where does her all energy and positive vibe come from? In her home state, there is a popular saying that celebrates exceptional women like her: "Eita Mulher Nordestina Porreta, Sô!" This roughly translates to, "Wow, what an incredible Northeastern woman!"

The Prince Who Falls From The Skies!
I have competed in the FAI DIPC - Dubai International Parachuting Championships five times. My first experience was in 2011 during the second DIPC, where I had the opportunity to meet a very kind and friendly prince. You might find it hard to believe, but he is also a skydiver!
Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed Al Maktoum, aged 42, became the Crown Prince of Dubai in 2008, one of the seven emirates of the United Arab Emirates (UAE). — The capital of the UAE is Abu Dhabi.
The Crown Prince holds multiple significant positions in the UAE government, serving as the Minister of Defence, Deputy Prime Minister, and Chairman of the Executive Council of Dubai. He received his military education from Sandhurst and studied economics at the London School.
In addition to his political responsibilities, he has a passion for horses and equestrianism. He has a large collection of animals in his palace, including tigers, camels, and more. He is also a poet and a skilled skydiver. He owns the world-renowned Skydive Dubai, the Skydive Desert Campus, and Inflight Dubai Indoor Skydiving. — The skydiving community appreciates his contributions!
He truly embodies the meaning of his pen name, "Fazza," under which he publishes his poetry. In the Emirati dialect, "Fazza" means a person who hurries to help and support others. The nickname is quite fitting for him; he is known for his generosity, charisma, adaptability, and friendliness. Fazza evokes the feeling of being the best, the most skilled, and the most successful.

Skydiving is a sport that features 12 competitive disciplines. Style and Accuracy Landing are indeed the two oldest competitive disciplines in skydiving. Accuracy Landing, often referred to as "Accuracy," was the first to gain official recognition, with the inaugural World Championship held in 1951. Style, which emphasizes freefall acrobatic maneuvers, was introduced in 1962. Together, Style and Accuracy are known as "Classic Parachuting." This team event includes five athletes, and each athlete faces their opponents individually. In skydiving, men and women compete on equal terms.

TEAM
The team of five jumps together from 3.500 ft and makes 10 jumps. The first eight rounds contribute to the team's score. In the last two rounds, the athletes jump separates, helping the athlete in the individual
Accuracy
The team of five jumps together at 3.500 ft, and guides their parachutes to hit the electronic target known as 'dead center,' which has a diameter of 2 centimeters (a little less than an inch), placed on the ground, on top of a soft surface (air mattress) measuring 5 meters of diameter.
Styly
The athlete performs a series of six predeterminate moves in free fall as precisely and quickly as possible. The moves include a 360-degree right turn, a 360-degree left turn, and a back loop. The series then respite.

A Successful athlete possesses unique skills that enable them to excel. Key elements of this success include natural talent, proper nutrition, rigorous physical training, and the invaluable support of a coach, all of which are developed over years of dedication. Achieving greatness requires time, intense focus, and significant mental and physical resilience. Additionally, emotional intelligence is crucial for navigating the challenges of competition and achieving an overall performance of dreams.

Accuracy jump:
Like a golf game, achieving excellent accuracy in jumping requires more mental skill than physical ability. The goal is singular: hitting the target.

Classic parachute has become my favorite accuracy canopy. It allows for smooth, precise, and light flight providing maximum control over the landing zone.
